JERRY L. GOODWIN
FAA Airframe and Powerplant Mechanic

As a retired maintenance mechanic, Mr. Goodwin has volunteered countless hours to assist with assembling the USU Wright Flyer. He designed and installed the power plant, engine controls, drive shaft and gear box. He also assisted with the manufacturing of the airframe and other controls.

Mr. Goodwin was trained in the US Air Force and served at Edwards AFB where he worked on the X1A and other experimental aircraft. As the Manager of Maintenance for Trans-America Airlines, Mr. Goodwin worked on airframes, electrical and power plants on DC 8s, Boeing 727s, DC 10s, and Boeing 747s.

Mr. Goodwin served as an instructor for the Industrial Technology and Education (ITE) Department at Utah State University for eight years where he taught reciprocating and jet engines, and aircraft electrical systems.
