As Manager of the Space Dynamics Laboratory (SDL) Education and Public Outreach
Office and Affiliate Director of the Rocky Mountain NASA Space Grant Consortium
Ms. Bowen brings twelve years of experience in education and public outreach
activities. Bowen has been involved with student mentoring programs, for Utah
Space Week, USU, and has teamed with national and international government programs
on education and public outreach activities. Bowen recently completed the design
of an interferometer animation video and a 3-D satellite model at the Virginia
Air and Space Center, Hampton, Virginia. She is also a co-investigator on various
proposals with SDL scientists and other faculty involving upper atmospheric
data collection and display.
Bowen has fifteen years of experience involving commercial and government projects,
including proposal generation, strategic planning, and management of financial/fiscal
year budgets and program management. Bowen also has experience working directly
with DoD, NASA, NSF and DOE contracts.
Previously, Bowen managed the information technology division for the Utah
State University Research Foundation. This included extensive coordination between
the University relations and SDL technical staff.
With over eight years of program management experience for DoD and DOE contracts,
Bowen has been involved in developing program plans and monitoring and tracking
manpower, monitoring subcontractors and ensuring compliance with the contractual
deliverables, including hardware and software deliverables as well as technical
reports. This included weekly interaction with the customer, during which an
excellent relationship with DOE, DoD, BMDO and the MSX community was established.
